AAUW Increases Scholarships

The American Association of University Women recently announced that it has received grants for five high school students to support their college education. This initiative is in line with the Lincoln Community Foundation’s mission to invest in the local community and make Lincoln a better place for all citizens.

Sandi Sherwood, Vice President of Finance for the American Association of University Women, which received a ARPA grant from the Foundation earlier this year, expressed her gratitude for the Foundation’s support. She stated that as a result of the grant, the AAUW was able to increase the number of scholarships it offered and award them to four students from Lincoln High School and one from Phoenix. Two of the recipients are also the first in their families to pursue higher education.

The Lincoln Community Foundation’s contribution was made possible in part by the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021, a federal economic stimulus package aimed at providing support to individuals and businesses affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. The Foundation firmly believes that investing in the local community is essential for making Lincoln a better place to live.
