LCF Nominated For Non-Profit Organization of the Year

The Lincoln Community Foundation, a steadfast pillar in our community since its establishment in 2003, is thrilled to announce its nomination for Non-Profit Organization of the Year by the esteemed Lincoln Chamber of Commerce. This recognition reflects the foundation’s unwavering commitment to making a positive impact on the vibrant city of Lincoln.

Founded through a generous contribution, the Lincoln Community Foundation operates as a non-profit foundation, managing an endowment that functions as an investment fund. Continuously seeking and receiving donations, the foundation maximizes its impact by utilizing interest earned from investments to award grants to local nonprofit groups. These grants have been instrumental in supporting hundreds of projects, contributing over $500,000 since 2005, and significantly enriching the fabric of our community.

Serving as a catalyst for positive change, the Lincoln Community Foundation operates as a community leader, coordinating resources and acting as a trustworthy trustee for community assets. The foundation is not just an entity; it is a driving force, a supporter, and a facilitator for initiatives that uplift and strengthen Lincoln.

Last year, our President, Kris Knutson, was honored with the Volunteer of the Year award, a testament to the dedication and passion that permeates every level of our organization. This year, we are proud to share that two of our esteemed members, Claire Luke and Jan Bedwell, are both nominees for Volunteer of the Year. Their commitment mirrors the spirit of community service that defines the Lincoln Community Foundation.

Over the past year, the Lincoln Community Foundation has been instrumental in supporting various initiatives, including grants for the Sober Grad Nights, the Lincoln Floating Pumpkin Patch, The Turkey Trot, Shop With a Cop, the Coalition for Auburn and Lincoln Youth, and many others. Additionally, the foundation played a pivotal role in creating the Lincoln Public Safety Foundation and organized a monthly bingo event to help other non-profits raise funds.
